Sen. John Fetterman Pokes Fun At Right-Wing ‘Body Double’ Conspiracy Theory By Selling Merch Mocking It

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman (D) is having some fun with conspiracy theories about him by selling merchandise at his campaign store.

A shirt that reads “John Fetterman’s Body Double” is up for sale at his campaign website for $35, which references a conspiracy theory that suggests he has numerous clones that fill in for him at the Capitol.

The conspiracy started a month ago mainly on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, where he said he “lost a bet with Karl,” who is his teenage son, in a post with him wearing a mustache and glasses rather than his signature goatee. With some thinking he looked different, a conspiracy that Fetterman had clones filling in for him spread like wildfire across the web.

Fetterman’s campaign is also selling t-shirts that take aim at criticism of conservative commentators criticizing the Senate’s new informal dress code. This would allow members of the Senate to enter in more casual gear, which includes hoodies, sneakers or gym wear. Many said the move was made to appease Fetterman, who’s known for his informal dress style. 

Fetterman has humorously addressed the rumors of having clones as “all true,” claiming he’s “Senator Guy Incognito,” in reference to a character on the Simpsons who resembles the main character Homer.

Fetterman suffered a stroke during his 2022 campaign and was hospitalized for depression shortly after entering the Senate.
