Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) made a swipe at his 2022 campaign rival Mehmet Oz on Halloween night.

He tweeted a picture of a veggie tray with the caption, “Wild and crazy evening in with… crudités” and a pained emoji face.

Oz, a celebrity doctor endorsed by Donald Trump in the race, has been the subject of much mockery for his comments about “crudité” in April of last year.

In a video that attacked President Joe Biden over inflation, Oz made his way around a grocery store and claimed he wanted “vegetables for crudité.”

Aside from his pretentious phrasing for the appetizer more commonly known as veggies and dip, Oz got the name of the grocery store wrong when he said he was in “Wegner’s,” a combination of the names of two Pennsylvania chains, Wegman’s and Redner’s.

Oz famously lived all his life in New Jersey before relocating to Pennsylvania to run for the Senate.

The multimillionaire did not succeed in his attempt to present as a regular guy in touch with average Pennsylvanians.

Fetterman’s campaign quickly seized the opportunity to make buttons that read: “Wegners. Let them eat crudité.”

This raised more than $500,000 in the 24 hours after the video went viral, $65,000 of that from sticker sales.

Oz was also criticized when his campaign mocked Fetterman’s recovery from a life-threatening stroke.

In 2021, Oz gave up his lucrative TV show in order to make his bid for office.
