Sen. John Fetterman Isn’t Sure Democrats Can Win Back White Male Voters
Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) admitted that he does not believe the Democratic Party will be able to win back white male voters.
“How did Democrats win back white men like yourself,” Tara Palmieri asked Fetterman on her podcast Everybody’s Gotta Win.
“I don’t know, and – and truthfully, I’m not sure – I’m not sure if that’s possible – possible to be honest,” the Pennsylvania senator told her. “I think that’s been seriously eroding for – for a while – and in some cases – and in the conversations I’ve had, a lot of people – they don’t even want to say it publicly, but they just feel like, you know, the other side seems like it’s – it’s like men are the problem, men are to blame or their – their masculinity is toxic or if – unless you’re able to conform to our very strict kinds of definition of what we think’s appropriate, well then hey I’m just I’m going to find an alternative.”
“Once we’ve kind of turned their back on that demographic, it’s going to be difficult to rebuild and replace that with those voters because I think that migration has been an ongoing phenomenon for several years, and that was front center, you know, in part of the election in – in ’24,” Fetterman declared.
Fetterman is no stranger to political truth-telling. In June 2024, he told CNN that he had moved away from a “progressive” label because he believed it is “much more important to be focusing on [national issues] instead of those kinds of purity tests and those kinds of issues.”
During an appearance on The View on January 27, he declared that Donald Trump‘s New York hush money trial had been “politically motivated.”
