The long-speculated feud between Selena Gomez and her ex-boyfriend’s wife, Hailey Bieber, has drawn widespread attention from fans over this past month after a few social media exchanges and reactions that have left many calling Bieber a bully.
The Only Murders in the Building star, 30, took to social media on Friday to inform her followers via an Instagram Story that Bieber, 26, had contacted her after receiving an overwhelming number of “death threats and such hateful negativity.”

“This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying,” wrote the singer. “I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop,” she pleaded with her fans.
Gomez was romantically linked to Justin Bieber between 2011 and 2018, when he was known to have on-and-off relationships with his now-wife. After a short-lived rekindling between Gomez and Bieber that lasted until March 2018, he quickly moved on with Hailey, whom he married the following September.
Many fans have criticized Bieber for not defending his wife amid the bullying and feud rumors and praise Gomez for looking past their differences and insisting that they are on good terms.
