Selena Gomez choked up on stage at her Montreal concert on Thursday during a performance of her song “Who Says,” as fans held up signs showing how much they love her.
“Who says, who says you’re not perfect,” Gomez sang to the crowd. “Who says you’re not worth it?”
The fans in the audience took this chance to hold up signs that read, “We are worth it,” in response to the inspirational lyrics, catching Gomez by surprise.
Gomez tried to sing the rest of the song, but she just couldn’t get the words out. “I don’t know what to say,” Gomez told the audience, wiping away tears. “Thank you.”
The singer let her fans take control of the song, and the crowd sang along to every word. Gomez overcome with emotion, stood on stage and watched her fans in amazement.
“Thank you guys for spending your night with me,” Gomez remarked to the audience, once the song came to an end. “Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or now, it’s just been such a crazy ride because you’ve seen me go through my ups and downs, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
