Rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and alcohol branding company Diageo have come to a settlement in a case the rapper filed in May 2023.

Combs filed a suit against the company for not properly maintaining their marketing agreement with his companies Ciroc Vodka and Deleon Tequila.

The rapper sued Diageo for neglecting the promotion of Ciroc and Deleon after Diageo purchased two competing tequila brands, Don Julio in 2014 and Casamigos in 2017. Combs claims they started solely selling his products in “urban” neighborhoods.

Combs accused the brand of being racist, claiming that Diageo execs told him that race was a factor as to why his products were being sold specifically in black-dominated communities.

In response, Diageo denied all claims of breaking their marketing agreement and accused Combs of creating “false and reckless” statements in efforts to take billions from the company.

In the joint statement they released together, the two stated that they have “now agreed to resolve all disputes between them. Mr. Combs has withdrawn all of his allegations against Diageo and will voluntarily dismiss his lawsuits against Diageo with prejudice.”

“With prejudice” means that Combs cannot refile the charges.

Combs has been under fire recently and his reputation has taken a hit. Last fall, he faced a lawsuit by his former girlfriend, singer-songwriter Cassie, claiming he subjected her to a long-term abusive relationship. Cassie, whose real name is Cassandra Ventura, settled with Combs days after the suit was filed. In December, another woman sued him for sexual assault, but he has vigorously denied those allegations.
