Sean Combs, otherwise known as his stage name Diddy, was arrested on assault charges Monday after an alleged incident at UCLA, where his son Justin goes to school and plays on the football team.

Diddy Charged With Assault

Combs, 45, was arrested at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex on the UCLA campus at around 12:30 p.m., following an alleged assault with a kettlebell, according to police. Though no one was seriously injured in the alleged attack, Combs was subsequently charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery.

Combs was booked at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center and was released at 10 p.m. on $50,000 bail, reported the Los Angeles Times.

Justin Combs, 21, is a red-shirt junior for the UCLA Bruins football team, playing defensive back. Following the incident that reportedly involved his father, his head coach Jim Mora released a statement thanking his staff.

“I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation,” Mora said. “This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”

Combs famously ran into trouble with the law back in 1999 following a shooting at a Manhattan club that he fled from with his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. Two years after the incident, the rap mogul was found not guilty of weapons possession and attempted bribery charges. Two years earlier, Combs was a witness to the shooting death of the Notorious B.I.G.

Combs has not yet commented on his recent arrest.
