Viola Davis In "How To Get Away With Murder"
Shonda Rhimes‘ Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder presented their much-anticipated crossover episode last night.
The crossover began about three months after Olivia (Kerry Washington) fell from grace. She is teaching a college class when Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) shows up and requests her help with her case. Mellie, Jake and Quinn, however, don’t think Olivia is really helping for good, but just wants a return to power. They decide that can’t happen and leak to the press that Olivia had been fired from the White House, which had previously been kept under wraps.

Fitz, however, recognizes Olivia’s good side and sees that she’s helping Annalise because it’s important and it matters. Olivia apologizes to those she’s hurt on television, and it reminds fans of the Pope from season one – strong and indestructible.
“My town, my game, my rules,” Olivia tells Annalise when they head to court.
Quinn even offers Olivia some sensitive information, but she refuses to accept the chance for blackmail to get a vote, and instead urges the judge to vote with his conscience. The vote, it turns out, will bring the women up to the Supreme Court, though the final decision from the case won’t be revealed until the last two episodes of Murder‘s fourth season.
With only six episodes left in the Scandal series, Olivia has a long way to go on her road to redemption, but the crossover seems a good place to begin. The question remains if Olivia will finally get her happy ending.
Scandal airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. and Murder airs just after at 10 p.m., both on ABC.
