Sarah Jessica Parker could be making her first full-time return to the small screen since Sex and the City went off the air 10 years ago in a new crime drama from the producers of True Detective called Busted.
Busted will be based on the non-fiction crime thriller Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love, written by reporters Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker about their mission to uncover a police corruption scandal in Philadelphia. The two ultimatly won a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting. It’s unknown which reporter Parker has signed on to play, according to Deadline.
David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me, Band of Brothers) will serve as an executive producer and will direct Busted’s pilot. Screenwriter Don Roos (Marley and Me, Web Therapy) will pen the pilot episode.
“Wendy and Barbara have written an amazing true story, and we’re thrilled for it to be SKE’s first television project,” said president Jim Tauber and president of production Carla Hacken of Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, which optioned the book. “Sarah Jessica’s coming on board, along with David Frankel and Don Roos is simply a perfect combination that we couldn’t be happier about.”
SKE and producer Anonymous Content will shop Busted to networks once the rest of the cast is finalized.
