Unlike the Golden Globes, at which Avatar reigned supreme with best drama and director nods, the blockbuster film had to sit one out at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards on Saturday night in L.A. and allow the other movie hits to shine. Sandra Bullock took home the Best Motion Picture Actress award for The Blind Side while Star Trek won for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture.

With the SAG awards out of the way, speculation about the Oscar announcements on Feb. 2 is reaching a fevered pitch. All eyes are on Bullock, who has long been more of an audinece favorite than a critical one. “Shhhh. Shhhh. Shhhh,” she said to Yahoo! News when asked to speculate on the odds on an Oscar nom, likely because she didn’t want to jinx herself. At the ceremony, Bullock also presented the Lifetime Achievement award to Betty White. “I should be presenting an award to you for the privilege of working in this wonderful business all this time," White joked. "And you still can’t get rid of me.” –KADEEN GRIFFITHS
