Samantha Bee does not hold back from holding the powerful accountable on her TBS show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and now she is being called out for possibly going too far.

In a segment about immigration on last night’s episode, the host called first daughter Ivanka Trump a “feckless c–––.” It was part of an appeal to convince the president to have a more compassionate immigration policy, specifically one that would not split immigrant children up from their parents.

The request went like this: “Let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c–––! He listens to you. Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to fucking stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes.”

Taking exception to the explicit language, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has told TheWrap, “The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious. The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling. Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.”

Some have drawn comparisons between Bee and Roseanne Barr’s recent comments that led to her show’s cancellation, noting a difference in the fallout.

Bee has since taken to Twitter to apologize:

TBS has also since issued a statement: “Samantha Bee has taken the right action in apologizing for the vile and inappropriate language she used about Ivanka Trump last night. Those words should not have been aired. It was our mistake too, and we regret it.”
