Ryan Reynolds Mulls Buying Ottawa Senators Hockey Team

Ryan Reynolds has vaguely hinted that he may be interested in buying the hockey team the Ottawa Senators if they go up for sale.

Eugene Melnyk, who formerly owned the team, passed away in March, leaving the organization to his daughters Anna and Olivia.

Rumors of a sale have picked up because the team has reportedly hired sports banking firm Galatioto Sports Partners, though the sale still isn’t confirmed.

Reynolds already co-owns the Welsh football club Wrexham AFC which he bought with the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia creator Rob McElhenney. When a hopeful Canadian tweeted at Reynolds about the Senators, he responded with an intrigued emoji.

The actor is already one of the highest-grossing movie stars alone, but he also has invested in several other entities to diversify his income.

He owns partial stakes in the Canadian wealth management service Wealthsimple, Aviation American Gin and the mobile company Mint Mobile. He also has a successful production company called Maximum Effort, if that wasn’t enough.

Reynolds most recently appeared in the Netflix film The Adam Project, and will appear in the film Spirited, a modern retelling of A Christmas Carol for AppleTV+ on November 18.
