Russell Brand has relocated to the United States, claiming that British authorities, the media and the judicial system are trying to “attack and shut [him] down.”

The comedian, who is under investigation by British police over allegations of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse, has allegedly moved from his $4.1 million home in Oxfordshire to a $2.3 million bungalow in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

Brand, 49, addressed his departure on the conservative video platform Rumble, stating, “I don’t live in the United Kingdom anymore because I personally have experienced how the media, government and judiciary — if you suddenly become an inconvenience — will find ways to attack and shut you down.”

His move coincides with the BBC’s misconduct review, which found that staff were too afraid to report Brand’s behavior. The report, which cost $827,000, documented allegations of sexual misconduct, urinating in studio cups, throwing objects and engaging in sexual activity at BBC premises.

Despite multiple complaints from 2006 to 2008, only one incident—Brand urinating in a cup—was formally recorded at the time. BBC’s director of editorial complaints, Peter Johnston, acknowledged the organization’s failure, stating, “A number of individuals had concerns about Russell Brand’s behavior which they felt unable to raise.”

The Metropolitan Police began its inquiry into Brand in September 2023 following allegations published in a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches. The allegations include claims of sexual assault and emotional abuse, some from women who were teenagers at the time.

Brand has denied all allegations, stating that all of his relationships were “absolutely always consensual.”

Things aren’t great for Brand in the U.S. either. His comedy special was removed from the Paramount+ streaming service after the allegations were made public.
