Robin Quivers, the longtime co-host of the Howard Stern Show, has recently embraced a new look as she shed her wigs to openly showcase her bald head.
In a recent appearance on the Stern Show Summer School, Quivers discussed her journey with cancer and how she has learned to embrace her natural appearance.
Quivers, who was diagnosed with stage 3C endometrial cancer in 2012, has undergone extensive treatment, which includes a hysterectomy and 15 months of chemotherapy and radiation. In this time, she lost her hair, a common side effect of cancer treatment; initially, Quivers wore wigs to conceal her baldness, but she has since made the decision to embrace her true look.
“Well, it’s my normal hairdo,” Quivers remarked, “I lost my hair in the second round of chemo I had to take in 2017, so I’ve been like this since then.” She explained that she only wears a wig when she appears on the Stern Show, as the cold weather can cause discomfort without a cover.
Quivers’ candid approach to her appearance has been met with support from both her colleagues and the public. She shared, “One of my helpers here saw me walking into the studio area, and said, ‘Don’t forget your wig!’ and I said, ‘No, I’m showing them a new look today.’”
The radio personality’s journey has not been an easy one, but she has remained resilient and optimistic. In 2023, she told People magazine that while the cancer has returned, it has “never been a huge problem” and she manages it with occasional immunotherapy infusions.
“I feel fine. It’s been 11 years of dealing with this — and I’m still here,” Quivers said. Her message of self-acceptance and resilience has resonated with many and inspired others to embrace their own unique journeys. Quivers said, “I’m interested in everybody having a fuller life, more options and knowing what’s possible.”
