Rihanna Reportedly Had A Meltdown Before Backing Out Of Grammy Performance
Rihanna reportedly threw a fit during rehearsals for her performance at the 2016 Grammy Awards before backing out of the show altogether.
Rihanna Meltdown
Rihanna ended up bailing on her highly anticipated Grammy performance after an apparent outburst in which she was heard “screaming and hysterical,” TMZ reported. Though it’s unknown exactly why Rihanna was having a meltdown during rehearsals, apparently the singer was displeased about something.
It stands to reason that Rihanna could have been upset about a lingering case of bronchitis preventing her from putting on the performance as planned. According to a source, Rihanna’s doctors had warned that she could “permanently damage her vocal cords” if she went on with the show as planned.
In a more detailed statement, the “Work” singer’s reps explained that an examination that followed her Grammy rehearsal made it clear that she should not take the stage later that night.
“Based on Rihanna’s examination after Grammy rehearsal, Rihanna’s doctor put her on vocal rest for 48 hours because of a risk of hemorrhaging,” reads the statement from the reps. “The antibiotics did not kill the infection adequately, therefore she cannot perform safely.”
Rihanna had taken to Twitter to break the news to fans, and to apologize for not being well enough to perform.
Rihanna is slated to kick off a world tour for her new album Anti on Feb. 26 in San Diego, Calif.
