In a photo posted to Instagram, former talk show host and actress Ricki Lake showed off her impressive 30-pound drop. Lake is down from 165 lbs to 135 lbs.
After seeing this, there was much speculation among fans that Lake’s major weight loss was due to Ozempic, however, the actress put those rumors to rest quickly.
Ozempic is a drug typically used to treat Type 2 diabetes but has been growing in popularity due to its aid in weight loss.
Lake was proud of herself and her husband for dropping the weight and was applauding their good work with an honorary Instagram post.
The caption of an Instagram carousel read, “Hi friends. I’ve been wanting to share with you what I’ve been up to these last four months. On October 26th, 2023 I made a commitment to myself to get healthier. My husband, Ross, joined me in this effort. Together we have each lost 30+ lbs.”
She went on to say, “I really want to share, because we did this without relying on a pharmaceutical. (Not that there is anything wrong with that). But neither of us was pre-diabetic and both of us felt like we wanted to at least try and do it on our own. Being 55 and in perimenopause, I was a bit worried, that my body would not drop the lbs like it had in the past.”
The former talk show host stated that she feels “amazing. I feel strong. I will go in-depth in another post of what I did exactly, but suffice to say this is the healthiest way I’ve lost weight in all of my years.”
Lake is not the only star to lose weight without the help of pharmaceuticals, musician Post Malone revealed his secret to losing weight as well: cutting out sugary soda. Other celebrities, like Sharon Osbourne, have admitted to using Ozempic.
In 2018, Lake spoke exclusively to uInterview about her documentary, Weed The People.
“My husband at the time, my beloved Christian Evans who passed away last year, he discovered CBD and cannabis for his own healing, and also for his grandfather, who was dying of terminal cancer, and then also for this little girl that we met through social media, of all places, Twitter,” Lake told uInterview exclusively. “This little girl who was a fan of mine from Dancing With The Stars had a different disease called NF1, which causes tumors to grow on your nerve endings, and she was being treated with chemotherapy. Very unpredictably, my husband and I moved this little girl into our home for six weeks and went on this plight to find alternative medications for her to help her with her disease.”
