It was perhaps the closest proximity the words “tear-jerker” and “Jersey Shore” have been in since the fist-pumping reality show first aired. Last week’s season five premiere left us wondering if Vinny would make it through his “funk” and stick it out for another season in Seaside, and last night we got our answer as he packed up his things and headed home to Staten Island.
With our guido and guidette friends back from their summer in Italy, everyone is anxious to get “fresh to death” and head to their favorite club, Karma. Snooki has several drinks too many and Jionni ends up babysitting her. Pauly finds a girl who is DTF, but after the deed is done and she bails in a cab, he finds she has taken his favorite gold chain with her.
Snooki continues to fret about what may come up when Mike and his new BFF Jionni get to talking. In a previously unimagined moment, Snooki tells Pauly he should take it easy on the tanning. After a summer away from the artificial sun, it seems Pauly went a tad overboard and winds up with a burned face.
Meanwhile, Vinny reveals that he has clinical anxiety and depression and that he has been dwelling on his problems. He believes the Seaside home may not be the best environment to lift his spirits. All the roommates, especially Pauly and Ronnie, do their best to cheer him up, to no avail. Pauly, clearly distraught at the thought of losing his bromance partner, tries his hardest to convince Vinny to stay but in the end all he can do is help him pack and say goodbye.
