The shelf life of America's most notorious reality TV stars, the cast of Jersey Shore, is reaching its expiration date. MTV will replace the entire cast with fresh faces after the fifth season wraps this summmer, reports US Weekly. It seems the budget for the show has become bloated along with the exposure of its stars, and the show's network, MTV, wants to cut expenses.
Reality television has been so popular with producers in part because of the how inexpensive episodes are to produce. However, the Jersey Shore cast, which includes eight members, commands up to $100,000 per episode. The show is currently filming season four in Italy, a location that has produced some off set drama, including a car crash involving Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi.
The surprise hit show has generated a lot of fame for its cast, and three members already have spinoffs in the works. Polizzi and cast mate Jenni "J-Woww" Farley will appear in a show about the two of them living together and dealing with post-Jersey Shore stardom. Perhaps they will be able todispense advice to the next round of starlets waiting to explode with notoriety.
