Rapper Young Thug Pays Off Inmates’ Bonds In Georgia Jail

Young Thug is giving back to his community.

Last week, the rapper released his “Paid The Line” music video featuring Gunna, Lil Baby and YTB Trench, coinciding with Young Thug’s album, Slime Language 2 debuting No. 1 on Billboard‘s 200 Albums Charts.

The music video featured an April 25th Fulton County Jail visit by Young Thug and Gunna. The jail is known for its overcrowding with over 2,900 individuals serving time. Young Thug, in collaboration with the district attorney’s office, prosecutors, attorneys and bond companies, he paid off bonds of individuals held on minor or petty offenses who couldn’t afford the cost of their release.

The music video also displayed the emotional process of families reuniting and getting a second chance. With Younger Stoner Life Records, the rapper wanted to highlight the power of hard work and giving back to one’s own community. Over 412,000 individuals are incarcerated without the ability to pay their bond. The rapper wanted to shine a light on that issue in America and possibly persuade others to help as well.

“This is where we are from,” Young Thug said. “We just woke up and went to jail with the lawyer and you know DA’s and the prosecutors, you know, the bonding companies and just got as many people as we can out… It feels so good to the point where you can start feeling that’s why God put me here. He put me here to do this.”
