Rapper YNW Melly Accused Of Witness Tampering As Double Murder Retrial Begins
Prosecutors in Florida have accused rapper YNW Melly of witness tampering ahead of his double murder retrial.
They charged Melly with making sure a key witness didn’t testify at his first murder trial.
Melly’s trial ended in a hung jury that voted 9-3 for the conviction. Jury selection for the retrial is slated to begin next week.
They specifically allege that Melly is a member of the Bloods street gang and used phone calls made by jail inmates at his request and letters passed between inmates.
Melly’s attorney, James Benjamin, said that the charges “are clearly retaliation” after he accused Harold Pryor, the Broward County State Attorney, of a coverup.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Melly could face a possible death sentence. He is accused of murdering his two friends, Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams, who were both killed in 2018.
