Rapper G Herbo Pleads Guilty To Wire Fraud To Pay For Private Jet Rides & ‘Designer Puppies,’ Faces 20 Years

G Herbo has pleaded guilty to wire fraud and lying to federal agents after being indicted in 2020.

The Chicago rapper, born Herbert Wright, was charged alongside five associates with using stolen identities to accumulate about $1.5 million in fraudulent purchases, including private jets, a trip to Jamaica and “designer puppies.”

Wright faces up to 20 years in prison but according to court records, will likely receive a lower sentence with probation.

The plea agreement stated, “Wright used the proceeds of these frauds to travel to various concert venues and to advance his career by posting photographs and/or videos of himself on the private jets, in the exotic cars, and at the Jamaican villa.”

The agreement also alleges that Wright lied to a U.S. federal agent regarding his relationship with Antonio Strong, his rap promoter, who is accused of being the mind behind the identity theft plan. He claimed to have never given Strong money to fund the scheme or received gifts from him, but the charges reveal that since 2016, Strong had given Wright expensive car rentals and private jet rides. This was demonstrated via text and Instagram messages between the pair.

According to the plea agreement, Wright will pay a total of $140,000 to several alleged victims.

In the time since his indictment, Wright dropped the albums 25 and Survivor’s Remorse. The rapper was also arrested earlier this month for the unlawful use of a weapon after being stopped by the police.
