Rapper G Herbo Arrested For Illegal Possession Of A Gun As He Faces 20 Years In Prison For Fraud
Rapper G Herbo was arrested in Chicago for illegal possession of a gun.
According to court records, G Herbo, whose real name is Herbert Wright III, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for unlawfully using a weapon.
Wright was riding in a Cadillac Escalade when officers pulled over the driver in Chicago for failing to use a turn signal in an intersection. The officer who pulled them over initially began to follow him before the incident due to the car’s tinted windows.
G Herbo is currently facing 20 years in prison for fraud to finance private jet flights, among other things. Additionally, Wright was charged with lying to the FBI by federal prosecutors after an investigation was conducted into fraud that he and his crew allegedly committed.
When police reached his car, Wright was seated in the back of the car and moved towards the front center console. This was immediately suspicious to officials as they claim it was “indicative with someone attempting to conceal contraband.”
Officers questioned the driver whether there were any weapons in the vehicle to which the driver responded by denying it three times. Police claimed he seemed “concerned and nervous.”
Officials questioned the driver again and he caved, admitting that there were several guns in the car. When the vehicle was searched, officers found four guns.
A black Glock 33 gun was located in the center console of the vehicle which was “uncased, loaded, and immediately accessible.” In addition, multiple .357 SIG cartridges were in the handgun’s magazine.
The three other men in the car were charged with illegal possession of guns. Cannabis was also discovered by authorities that totaled up to 248 grams, roughly equal to $1,488.
After the guns were discovered, officials searched the law enforcement database to locate Wright and found that he did not have a concealed carry license or a firearm owner’s identification card. They additionally discovered that Wright is currently on probation.
Wright did not have felony charges pressed against him and his bond was set at $5,000, which he was able to pay and was released on Monday.

His court date is set for August 1.
This is not Wright’s first arrest. In 2018 he pled guilty to unlawfully possessing a gun after his driver notified authorities that he and two other passengers were carrying weapons. He was charged with felony gun possession and put on a two-year probation.
One year later, Wright was arrested again after a physical altercation with the mother of his son, Ariana Fletcher, in Atlanta. He was charged with a misdemeanor battery.
