Prince William Banned Meghan Markle From Wearing Princess Diana’s Jewelry, Warned Harry He Was Moving Too Fast

A newly released biography, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, alleges that Prince William, heir to the British throne, prevented Meghan Markle from wearing Princess Diana’s jewelry at her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, shedding light on early tensions within the royal family.

Author Rob Jobson, a veteran royal correspondent, claims in his book that William harbored concerns about his brother’s relationship with the American actress from its early stages. According to Jobson, William reportedly sought assurances from Queen Elizabeth II that Markle would not have access to Diana’s jewelry collection, despite his own wife, Catherine, being allowed to wear certain pieces.

“Catherine, the Princess of Wales” suggests that William, 42, advised Harry, 39, to slow down his relationship with Markle, to allow her time to adjust to royal life. Harry apparently took this advice as an insult, which quickly made his relationship with his brother worse.

Jobson writes that Harry believed the goodwill from William and Catherine had evaporated well before wedding preparations began. The book references Harry’s memoir, Spare, which alleged a physical confrontation between the brothers as their relationship worsened.

The biography also talks about early interactions between Markle and the Prince and Princess of Wales. Jobson claims that Markle’s actions “disregarded the royal hierarchy,” leading to tension with her future in-laws.

These revelations come amid an ongoing estrangement between the two couples. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their roles as working royals in 2020, further straining family ties.
