Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been in London to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, but they were not seen as prominently as other royals due to the Queen’s decision last month to only have working Royal Family members allowed for a photo on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
The couple gathered to view the Trooping the Colour parade Thursday morning from the Major General’s office in Buckingham Palace. They were both seen chatting with people in attendance including the Duke Of Kent, and Markle was later photographed goofing around and entertaining some young royals.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their official royal duties two years ago, and have been raising their children Archie and Lillibet in Montecito, California. Harry had not participated in any royal events in England besides attending a memorial service for Prince Phillip last year. This will also be a chance for Lillibet, who isn’t even a year old yet, to get a chance to finally meet her grandmother in person, who is also unsurprisingly the child’s namesake.
Prince Harry has said in the past that he didn’t wish to bring his children unless he could be guaranteed public-funded police protection, which he has been denied for years. His family has been granted protection for most gatherings on this trip besides small events with friends at their homes or restaurants.
