Prince Harry said his late mother, Princess Diana, would have wanted him to raise his children in the United States.

Harry, who told Good Morning America in February he is considering becoming an American citizen, made the claim about Diana during an interview at the 2024 New York Times DealBook Summit on Dec. 4.

Journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin asked the Duke of Sussex if he plans to “remain here with us in the U.S.”

“I do,” Harry replied. “I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here.”

“It’s a part of my life that I never thought I was – I was going to live,” he added. “And I feel as though it’s the life that my mom wanted for me. And to be able to do the things that I am able to do with my kids that I undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the U.K. is huge, and that’s a fantastic opportunity. I’m hugely grateful for that.”

In September, Harry took a trip to Britain, during which he stopped by Althorp House, Diana’s childhood home.
