Pretty Little Liars was filled with mystery, drama and unexpected guests in this week’s new episode — but there was still time for a romantic proposal.

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Season 7 Episode 5 Recap

In the final scene of Tuesday’s episode, Aria (Lucy Hale) gets a text from Ezra (Ian Harding) to meet him at the Brew — where the place is glowing in candlelight and he greets her in an elegant black suit.

Aria is shocked when Ezra gets down on one knee, and presents her with a classic diamond engagement ring.

“When you walked through the door after…it felt like the last flat stretch of track on a roller-coaster ride right before it comes to a stop,” Ezra told her. “That’s when I knew. I want you in my life, Aria, for the rest of my life, and I don’t ever want to let you go.”

Unfortunately, fans won’t hear Aria’s answer to Ezra’s proposal until the next episode.

In the meantime, here’s a few other highlights from Tuesday’s episode:

Alison (Sasha Pieterse) finally managed to escape from Welby — with the help of her aunt Mary Drake (Andrea Parker).

Emily (Shay Mitchell) received an A on an exam she was too late to show up for — but soon got a mysterious text message from A.D. — who made it clear they’re owed a ‘thank you.’

Ezra’s cell phone rings with a call from his supposedly dead ex-girlfriend Nicole (Rebecca Breeds) — and Aria answers. But, after hearing a strange marketing voice on the line, Aria decides to delete the call.

Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) find out that the cops believe Rollins may still be alive — while trying to find out where Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) is hiding.

Jenna (Tammin Sursok) and Sara Harvey (Dre Davis) appeared to be on their way to becoming scheming friends while they shared a drink at the Radley.

“I think a few of the girls you know are a few of the girls I know,” Jenna told Sara.

“Are you a sour girl?” Sara asked.

“Well, I can be,” Jenna replied, just as Noel Kahn (Brandon Daugherty) walked in to join the girls for a drink.

Pretty Little Liars airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m on Freeform.
