James Bond star Pierce Brosnan entered a guilty plea on Thursday for walking off the designated path in one of Yellowstone National Park’s thermal areas in November 2023.
Brosnan was issued a violation notice, accompanying another one he received for allegedly violating a closure at Mammoth Hot Springs. He was fined $500 for straying off the trail and ordered to pay $1,000 to the nonprofit organization Yellowstone Forever.
The court dismissed his second violation.
Brosnan and his lawyer appeared virtually at the arrangement. He previously pleaded not guilty to both violations in January.
The actor apologized for the incident on Instagram.
“As an environmentalist, I have the utmost respect for and love of our natural world,” he wrote. “However, I made an impulsive mistake — one that I do not take lightly — when entering a thermal area covered in snow in Yellowstone National Park to take a photograph. I did not see a ‘No Trespassing’ sign posted that warned of danger nor did I hike in the immediate area.”
“I deeply regret my transgression and offer my heartfelt apologies to all for trespassing in this sensitive area,” Brosnan continued. “Yellowstone and all of our National Parks are to be cared for and preserved for all to enjoy.”
Brosnan was recently in the news when a man was arrested for breaking into his Malibu, California, home.
