Actor Pierce Brosnan has been cited in Wyoming for allegedly walking in thermal areas of Yellowstone National Park. Court documents reveal that the citations were listed as petty offenses and included traveling by foot in prohibited areas and violating closures and use limits.

Brosnan, 70, has been ordered to appear at the Yellowstone Justice Center on January 23.

Yellowstone National Park is renowned for its hydrothermal features, such as hot springs, geysers and mud pots, and the park’s official website advises visitors to stay on designated boardwalks and trails in thermal areas due to the potential dangers. Hot springs, in particular, have caused more injuries and fatalities in Yellowstone than any other natural feature.

Yellowstone National Park spans approximately 2.2 million acres and boasts over 10,000 hydrothermal features. The park provides extensive guidelines and warnings to ensure visitor safety and emphasizes the risks associated with hot springs. Some thermal pools within the park can reach temperatures that exceed 150 degrees Fahrenheit, which can lead to severe injuries or fatalities.

Despite these warnings, instances of visitors, such as Brosnan, who violate the regulations within Yellowstone are not uncommon.

Such incidents have resulted in serious injuries and even fatalities. In a previous incident, a Michigan man faced federal charges after he strayed off-trail in Yellowstone’s thermal area and suffered thermal burns. He was subsequently banned from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks until the resolution of his case.

Recent violators of Yellowstone’s regulations have faced penalties that range from fines and jail sentences to lengthy bans from the park. The severity of Brosnan’s potential consequences remains to be seen as legal proceedings unfold.

Brosnan had been filming a western titled Unholy Trinity at the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Montana prior to the incident.

The actor is best known for his portrayal of James Bond in four films, which include GoldenEye and Die Another Day. He has an extensive filmography, which includes notable roles in Mrs. Doubtfire, Mars Attacks!, The Thomas Crown Affair, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, The World’s End and Black Adam.

In June, Brosnan was in the news when a man was charged with trespassing at his home in Malibu.
