Paula Patton, who has been estranged from her husband Robin Thicke for the last couple of months, admits that she still has a “deep love” for him.
"We've known each other since we were teenagers," Patton, 38, told Vanity Fair in an interview for its June issue. “All I can tell you is there's a deep love there — always was, and always will be."
Patton and Thicke announced their decision to separate in February after eight years of marriage and 23 years as a couple. "He wasn't my first kiss," Patton added to the magazine about her high school sweetheart. "But he was my first lots of other things."
When they announced their separation, their statement read, "We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”
Rumors swirled about the state of Thicke and Patton’s marriage following the former’s onstage performance with Miley Cyrus during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. Many thought that Thicke was disrespecting Patton, his wife and mother to their son Julian. Patton dismissed the controversy, but not long after more evidence surfaced that their marriage was in trouble.
Thicke, riding the high of his “Blurred Lines” success, was caught on camera at New York City hotspot 1Oak groping an adoring female fan. In January, Thicke was spotted dancing and getting close to a woman at Club 79 in Paris.
