Patton Oswalt Steps Out With New Girlfriend Meredith Salenger

Patton Oswalt and his new girlfriend Meredith Salenger took a trip to Disneyland over the weekend, just days after they publicly debuted their relationship.

Oswalt, 48, lost his wife, Michelle McNamara, unexpectedly in April 2016 when she died in her sleep, leaving him to care for their 8-year-old daughter Alice Rigney. He and his new girlfriend Salenger headed out to Disneyland and posted some photos to their social media pages.

“Happiest Place on Earth #disneyland #dreamscometrue,” Salenger captioned a shot. The 47-year-old is a Harvard-educated actress who has appeared in such TV and film works as Lake Placid, Hollywood Heights, and Star Wars: Clone Wars.

Oswalt retweeted the picture, and made fun of them with a cute caption. “We are at ‘Dorkey Disney T-shirt Relationship Level’, from which no one returns. GREAT CTHULHU WHAT HAVE WE DONE,” he wrote.

The pair first made their first public appearance at the Baby Driver premiere, in which Oswalt acts.

Oswalt and Salenger “met through mutual friend Martha Plimpton,” a source told People. “They started chatting as friends and it blossomed from there.”

McNamara passed away from a complication of using prescription medications with an underlying heart condition. Neither McNamara nor Oswalt knew of her condition before her death. They wed in 2005.

“It’s awful, but it’s not fatal,” wrote Oswalt recently. “That’s the dispatch I’m sending back from exactly one year into this shadow-slog.” “I couldn’t bear removing [my wedding ring] since April 21st, 2016. But now it felt obscene. That anonymous poem about the man mourning his dead lover for a year and a day, for craving a kiss from her ‘clay cold lips.’ I was inviting more darkness. Removing the ring was removing the last symbol of denial of who I was now, and what my life is, and what my responsibilities are. But it’s not fatal.”
