A year after his wife’s passing, Patton Oswalt is engaged to girlfriend Meredith Salenger.

PATTON OSWALT ENGAGED TO MEREDITH SALENGER

The comedian’s wife Michelle McNamara passed away in her sleep due to an unknown heart condition in April 2016. She left Oswalt to care for their then-8-year-old daughter Alice Rigney. Oswalt, 48, has since tried to move on, and began dating Salenger, whom he met through a mutual friend.

The pair made their relationship public in June, when they attended the red carpet premiere of Baby Driver together. They also spent a weekend together at Disneyland, and tweeted about the experience.

Now, Salenger posted a new picture on Instagram of herself with Oswalt and his daughter. “It’s official,” she wrote. “I’m the luckiest happiest girl in the universe!!!! I love you @pattonoswalt I love you Alice Oswalt! #YesYesYes.”

Prior to this obvious post, she made a couple of cheeky social media posts – one with a picture of Dwayne Johnson photoshopped onto her ring finger. “I don’t wanna brag… but check out the size of The Rock on my finger! Hahaha,” she wrote. Then another accompanied a photo of herself holding a bouquet of flowers and said, “Once upon a time… in 2008… at my friend’s wedding… I caught the bouquet… #fairytalesdoexist.”

Oswalt married author McNamara in 2005 and had Alice in 2009. He has written a few times about losing his wife and becoming a single father overnight, most recently writing about how difficult it was to remove his wedding ring. “I couldn’t bear removing it since April 21, 2016,” he said. “But now it felt obscene. I was inviting more darkness. Removing the ring was removing the last symbol of denial of who I was now, and what my life is, and what my responsibilities are.”
