Two-time Tony and Grammy Award winner Patti LuPone dissed Madonna‘s entire acting career, calling her a “movie killer.”
LuPone was on Andy Cohen‘s Watch What Happens Live promoting her new Broadway show War Paint when she decided to go after the singer/actress’s film credits. Both women have played Evita Perón in Evita – LuPone on Broadway in 1979 and Madonna in the 1996 movie.
“Did you and Madonna ever talk about your two iconic performances as Evita?” asked a caller. “No,” was LuPone’s immediate answer before launching into a story of how they were once in the same building. “The only thing that Madonna has ever said to me was, ‘I’m taller than you.’ Bada bing.”
And then Cohen asked what she thought of Madonna in the film version. “I thought it was a piece of s–t,” LuPone, 68, responded. “Madonna is a movie killer. She’s dead behind the eyes. She cannot act her way out of a paper bag. She should not be on film or on stage. She’s a wonderful performer for what she does, but she is not an actress.”
LuPone also targeted Real Housewives of New York City star LuAnn D’Agostino and former Dance Moms instructor Abby Lee Miller. “She can’t act,” said LuPone of D’Agostino, who had a cameo on Law & Order. And, “She should go to jail for live. I found her obnoxious, I just hated her,” she said of Miller after discussing her 366 day jail sentence.
