Patrick Mahomes Has A Temper Tantrum After Referee’s Call Causes The Chiefs To Lose To The Bills

Quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes expressed his frustration toward the referees who nullified what could have been a “legendary moment” for his teammate Travis Kelce

In a game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, a controversial call negated Kelce’s lateral pass that resulted in Kadarius Toney‘s touchdown.

After the referees decided to reverse the TD, with the claim that Toney was offside, the Chiefs ultimately lost the game with a score of 20-17.

Video clips captured Mahomes on the sidelines in an outburst littered with profanity as he screamed the call was “f—ing terrible” and “f—ing embarrassing.”

Mahomes slammed his helmet to the ground and expressed to Bills quarterback Josh Allen that it was the “wildest f—ing call” he had ever witnessed.

In the post-game press conference, Mahomes placed the blame for the Chiefs’ loss squarely on the referee. He expressed his disappointment not only for himself but also for the sport of football in general.

Mahomes believed that the call robbed them of a moment of greatness, as Kelce’s play would have had a significant impact on the game’s outcome. He emphasized the uncertainty of what could have happened if the play had stood.

Mahomes also mentioned another incident that involved a missed penalty call on Marquez Valdes-Scantling in a previous game, where he refrained from comment. He acknowledged that referees are human and make mistakes, but he expressed frustration at the recurrent issues that seem to arise every week.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid echoed Mahomes’ disappointment and stated that he was very disheartened by the way the game ended. He mentioned that while he doesn’t make excuses, he typically receives a warning before such calls in important games. Reid said he believed the situation was an embarrassment for the NFL.

Earlier this year, Mahomes and Kelce attended the premiere of Quarterback together. Quarterback is an eight-episode docuseries that follows Mahomes and other football players off the field.
