Greenbay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed that back in August 2021, he misled the media at a press conference when asked about his Covid vaccination status.
Rodgers appeared on Saturday’s episode of the highly controversial podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
During the episode, Rodgers admitted that he “chose not to get vaxxed” and said that he has an allergy to an ingredient in the vaccines.
The quarterback explained to Rogan, “I’d been ready the entire time for this [vaccine] question and had thought about how I wanted to answer it. And I had come to the conclusion I’m going to say: ‘I’ve been immunized.’ And if there’s a follow up, then talk about my process.”
Rodgers admitted that he chose the relatively vague word so that he could lie by omission.
“But I thought there’s a possibility that I say ‘I’m immunized,’ maybe they understand what that means, maybe they don’t,” he continued. “Maybe, they follow up. They didn’t follow up. So then I go [through] the season [with] them thinking — some of them — that I was vaccinated.”
“Because the only follow up they asked was basically asking me to rip on my teammates, like: ‘What do you say to your teammates who aren’t vaccinated?” Rodgers said. “What kind of example do you feel like you’re setting to your teammates who are unvaccinated?’ I said: ‘Hey, it’s everybody’s own decision with their body.'”
The Packers QB recalled that things got messy when he contracted Covid in November 2021.
“Because now I’m a liar, I’m endangering the community, my teammates, all these people. And the attempted takedown of me and my word and my integrity began.”
Rodgers claims to have undergone an alternative immunization process recommended to him by a holistic doctor. He said he took “diluted strands” of the virus orally, but was unable to explain the science behind the practice when Rogan asked.
Rogan’s Covid vaccine opinions and other thoughts about the pandemic have previously been denounced by the likes of Dr. Fauci. He’s been criticized by health professionals and media outlets for spreading dangerous misinformation.
