Oscars 2018 In Memoriam Tribute Leaves Out Adam West & Glen Campbell, Social Media Cries Foul
On Sunday, the Oscars‘ annual In Memoriam tribute, featuring notable talent lost in 2017, again left out many names. Screened at the Dolby Theatre with live music accompaniment by Eddie Vedder, the three-minute segment omitted Batman star Adam West, singer Glen Campbell and Benson star Robert Guillaume, among others.

Reaction to the snubs came swiftly on social media.
The #Oscars didn’t include Adam West in their “In Memoriam” montage 🤦 pic.twitter.com/CSahcMfKHL

Absolutely outrageous that the #Oscars missed out Adam West on their In Memoriam section. He redefined Batman, headlined the first Batman film and was a film star before that. He truly deserved to be there! pic.twitter.com/VkBnDZtJGR

Surprised Tobe Hooper, Adam West, John Mahoney and Michael Nyqvist weren’t included in the #Oscars In Memoriam segment. We remember your work. pic.twitter.com/yqqY0E5k81

Idiotic Oscars left out, from the In Memoriam tribute, “Batman” star Adam West, singer Glen Campbell (who appeared in “True Grit” & his song “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” was nominated for an Oscar), Della Reese, Oscar-winning actress Dorothy Malone and Robert Guillaume.

According to Vanity Fair, a committee at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences convened in January to decide on a list of who to include. From nearly 800 names, the committee spent hours in debate before selecting 51 people. A source told the magazine that while in the past, the annual tribute primarily featured big name movie stars and directors, the committee has been increasingly dedicated to representing a diversity of talent from around the world.
Other names that were left out included director Tobe Hooper, Oscar-winning actress Dorothy Malone and actor Miguel Ferrer.
