Orange Is the New Black has been renewed for three more seasons on Netflix ahead of the release of its fourth season this coming June.

Orange Is The New Black Renewed

Netflix announced the newly inked Orange Is the New Black deal on Friday, which guarantees the show at least a seven-season run.

“Jenji and her team have produced a phenomenal and impactful series that is both funny and dramatic, outrageous and heartfelt,” Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix, said in a statement. “Audiences around the world have come to love the ladies and men of Orange is the New Black, and we are eager to see where three more seasons will take them.”

Orange Is The New Black showrunner Jenji Kohan also released a statement, expressing her joy at having the opportunity to explore the stories of the women at Litchfield even further with three additional seasons.

“Three more years!  Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don’t live in those cultures,” said Kohan. “Here’s to keeping it interesting. Thanks Netflix! Both thanks and you’re welcome Lionsgate!  And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers… with whom I have the pride and honor of crafting this show.  Three more years!  Three more years!”

Some of the stars of the show, including Laura Prepon, Danielle Brooks and Jessica Pimentel have taken to Twitter to celebrate the good news.

Orange is the New Black’s fourth season is slated to debut on Netflix June 17.
