No 3-D For New 'Harry Potter' Film

Purists rejoice: Warner Brothers has announced that they will not release the upcoming Harry Potter film in 3-D.

After initially planning to convert Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1, into 3-D format, delays in the conversion process have forced the studio to halt in order to preserve the November 19 release date. Rather than pushing back the date of the film, the movie will simply be shown in IMAX as well as in the conventional format. Warner Brothers plans for the second part of the final installation, which opens in July, to be released in 3-D.

"Despite everyone's best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality," the studio said in a statement. "We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate Harry Potter experience." –AMY LEE
