Nicki Minaj Stops Singing Hit Song ‘Starships’ During New Year’s Eve Concert: ‘I Don’t Like It’
At a New Year’s Eve concert, Nicki Minaj decided to skip one of her most popular songs – leaving fans disappointed.
A video posted to TikTok shows Minaj starting to sing the track “Starships” during a performance in E11EVEN Miami before abruptly stopping the song. Minaj, who seemed quite disinterested in the hit, signaled for the music to stop.
In the final seconds of the clip, the introduction for “Super Bass” can be heard.
Minaj has previously made her dislike for the track known. In a 2020 interview with Genius, she made her distaste for “Starships,” along with some other popular tracks known clear. “I hate ‘Starships,’ I mean, ew, ‘Starships?’ I’m like, ‘Why did I do that?’ I really think that every time I hear it,” Minaj said.
She also talked about disliking the track “Anaconda.”
“I wish I never recorded ‘Anaconda.’ I like the video but ugh,” she complained.
Minaj had an eventful 2023. She released her fifth album Pink Friday 2, which is a sequel to her debut album, Pink Friday.
Minaj also collaborated with up-and-coming rapper Ice Spice on the song “Barbie World,” which was for the Barbie soundtrack.
The singer is set to begin her international tour promoting her newest album. She will go to 37 cities between March and June.
