West Hollywood, California presented porn star Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, with a key to the city on Wednesday and declared the day “Stormy Daniels Day.”

A statement for the event announced that Daniels was being honored for “her leadership in the #RESIST movement” and that she “has proven herself to be a profile in courage by speaking truth to power even under threats to her safety and extreme intimidation.” The ceremony took place at the sex shop Chi Chi LaRue’s.

Daniels has been a major public figure since she alleged that she had an affair with Donald Trump in 2006, and she has continued to tell her story despite threats and hush payments.

This is not the first time that West Hollywood has been less-than-friendly towards President Trump. In 2016, then-mayor Lindsey Horvath wrote a letter to then-candidate Trump, in which she said, “I want to make very clear that your campaign of violence and intimidation is not welcome in our city,” while demanding that he “renounce calls to violence.” Then in June 2017, the city council passed a resolution calling on the U.S. House of Representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings against Trump.

In a tweet leading up to Stormy Daniels Day, current mayor John Duran noted all “the right wing hate mail” he has received that has made him figure he must be “doing something right!”
