Valerie Bertinelli is being extremely honest about her love life and mental health. Bertinelli, who is in the middle of a divorce from Tom Vitale, told Today‘s Hoda Kotb that the chances of her dating or getting married again are slim.

“I am gonna be more than happy to be happily divorced and spend the rest of my life alone,” Bertinelli joked. “Well, with my six cats and my dog, and my son and one day, hopefully, grandchildren.”

She said because of the painful divorce that she’s going through right now, “I can’t imagine ever trusting anyone again to let into my life, so I have some trust issues that I’m sure I”m gonna have to get past.”

Bertinelli also spoke about the recent passing of her first husband, Eddie Van Halen. She said she learned from the ordeal that “love always wins no matter what, even when they’re gone. There’s still that love there to be grateful for that you had.”

She added that they had “bumpy” periods, but reflected “no matter what you go through, you can always find your way back to love and forgiveness, and we were able to do that gratefully. I wish he hadn’t died after that.”
