On Monday, Nicki Minaj revealed the reason she skipped the Met Gala was because the event required a COVID-19 vaccination. On Twitter, Minaj wrote, “They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. If I get vaccinated it won’t [be] for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research.”

The Twitter update stirred up much controversy among Nicki’s fans. Some were upset that Minaj had not yet gotten vaccinated long after it became available. Others were understanding toward Minaj’s predicament and her concern for her children.

However, the superstar rapper came under more fire for spreading misinformation about the vaccines. Minaj later tweeted about her “cousin in Trinidad” who refused to get the Covid-19 vaccine because of alleged side effects, such as impotence. Health officials agree that impotence is not commonly associated with the vaccine.

Minaj has been on Twitter engaging with fans and firing back at media outlets which covered her comments. It seems that she has had a slight change of heart regarding vaccines after asking fans about their experiences with them and for advice on which vaccine to get.

Minaj assured fans she would be getting vaccinated in order to go on tour.
