Madonna’s ‘Madame X’ Hits No 1. On Billboard 200 Charts, 9th No. 1 Album
As “Madame X,” Madonna is back at the top again with her newest album placing at No 1. on the Billboard 200 chart. Madame X is Madonna’s fourteenth studio album, and this is the ninth time she has been No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Madame X shined with a total of 95,000 equivalent units, and 90,000 of those units came from album sales alone. For this album, Madonna paired up with Columbia singer Maluma for their song “Medllín.” Madonna will also begin her worldwide tour for this album during September 2019, and her first stop is New York City.
Madonna has also taken the meaning of this ‘Madame X’ persona even further, not only with the production of this album but also by sharing to the public the ways in which ‘Madame X’ can change her identity. Throughout her music videos and interviews for this album, Madonna has worn an eye patch that had a big X on it, the “Madame X” signature look.
Over the years, Madonna had hits on the Billboard 200 multiple times. Like A Virgin was her first album to hit No. 1, then True Blue, Like a Prayer, American Life, and even more followed. At the Billboard Music Awards, Madonna won her first award with the Artist Achievement Award in 1996 and her second award in 2004, Top Hot Singles Sales. Her success in the music industry continued on as she won three Billboard Music Awards during 2013, one of which included her album MDNA for Top Dance Album.
