A Nevada man attacked a judge on Wednesday after she denied the defendant probation.

The man, Las Vegas resident Debora Redden, leaped over a defense table after Judge Mary Kay Holthus denied probation to him in a felony assault case. Redden jumped head first toward the judge, with two men and an officer then holding Redden back before ultimately dragging him away.

The judge sustained injuries but was not taken to the hospital. However, a courtroom marshal who was also injured was also hospitalized for treatment due to a bleeding gash on his forehead.

Redden has since been issued multiple new felony charges including battery on a protected person for his attack on the judge.

Redden was not in custody when he arrived in court on Wednesday.

After pleading with the judge not to put him behind bars, the judge made it clear that he was likely going to jail. Redden then yelled expletives and charged at the judge. He has served prison time for attempted theft in 2019 and domestic battery in 2021.
