Nepo-Baby Love: Eddie Murphy’s Son Gets Engaged To Martin Lawrence’s Daughter – Eddie Tells Martin Pay Up For Wedding

Eric Murphy, the son of Eddie Murphy, and Jasmin Lawrence, the daughter of Martin Lawrence, announced their engagement through a video shared on their Instagram. Set to the tune of “Spend My Life with You” by Eric Benet, the video shows Eric decorating a room with candles and roses before cutting to Jasmin’s reaction as she walks into the setup. Eric then gets down on one knee and opens the ring box, prompting Jasmin to answer with “yes” and share a kiss.

In the caption of their joint post, the couple wrote, “We’re engaged! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter. Special thank you to everyone who made this movement so beautiful!”

While it is unclear when the couple began dating, the debut of their relationship was revealed on Instagram in June 2021, with Eric posting photos of their pair. Weeks later, Jasmin posted a birthday tribute to her then-boyfriend, calling him “my love” and declaring, “I’m so incredibly blessed to know you, to love you, and to have you by my side.”

“It wasn’t even our dads, and they’ve done two movies together; they’re friends,” Jasmin recounted about the development of her and Eric’s relationship. “We became good friends because we bonded on a lot of things, and over time, it just became more.”

Martin, 59, addressed the pair’s romance during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in June 2022, joking that his daughter and Eddie’s son could potentially conceive a “comedy super-baby” together. 

“We haven’t thought about it,” Martin said. “We kind of just stay out of their business, let them do their own thing, and respect their thing.” 

Eddie, 63, later said that Martin would have to pay for any wedding. “My daughter Bria just got married, and I had to pay—really had to pay,” Eddie said. “You have to do the same, Martin.”

Eric previously supported his future father-in-law at the Bad Boys for Life premiere at the Walk of Fame ceremony. Following the event, he posted a tribute to Martin, praising his “unconditional love” for Jasmin.

“From the moment I met you, @martinlawrence, I knew that you were not only one of the funniest and most talented actors on the planet, but you are also an amazing father,” he wrote, “Your unconditional love and support for Jasmin have not only shaped her into the beautiful, strong, and compassionate woman she is today but have also helped create the incredible partner she is to me. I am forever grateful for how you raised her and for how you continue to be a pillar of strength for everyone around you.”
