NBC In Talks For ‘Will And Grace’ Reboot

NBC is considering a ten-episode season of a rebooted Will and Grace, negotiating with the original four stars and two writers to return after a successful ten-minute special on YouTube in support of Hillary Clinton.

The well-received special, single scene focused on the 2016 election, paying homage to time passing with humorous lines such as, “Why does everything in there [the fridge] look 10 years old?” Airing from 1998 to 2006, the show concluded with a time skip into the future, the four friends reuniting after years of being apart. However, the special episode didn’t seem to consider this ending, keeping Will and Grace as roommates, having Stan remain alive, and not mentioning nor considering Leo, Grace’s husband in later seasons, as a returning character.

“As for the future, everyone — from Max and David on down — is so protective of the show and how we ended it,” Eric McCormack said. “We’re very proud of the series finale and the story that told of the break that friendships sometimes take. So to play with that and change that story and change our own stories in life, I’m sure we would all be open to talking about it.”

McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes (Will, Grace, Caren, and Jack respectively), have all been involved with the negotiations. Max Mutchnick, co-creator alongside David Kohan, had the original idea to for the mini-episode.
