The husband of House Speaker Nancy Peolosi, Paul Pelosi, was charged with two alcohol-related driving misdemeanors from a crash last month in Northern California.
The Napa County District Attorney’s Office charged his for driving under the influence of alcohol and for having an 0.082% blood alcohol level causing the impact. The legal limit in California is 0.08%.
The California Highway Patrol said the Pelosi was driving a Porsche and was hit by a Jeep as Pelosi’s car tried to cross a state road. No one involved in the collision was severely hurt and the driver of the Jeep was not arrested.
“Based upon the extent of the injuries suffered by the victim, the District Attorney filed misdemeanor charges,” the Napa County District Attorney’s Office said. “This decision is consistent with how our office handles these cases with simian injuries.”
If convicted as charged, Pelosi could face up to five years in probation and a minimum of five days in jail. He will appear in court again on August 3.
