The cause of actor Evan Ellingson’s death has been revealed less than a month after he died at age 35.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Ellingson died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl. His body was found on November 5 at his residence in Fontana, California.

The actor opened up about his struggle with addiction in 2021 when he sought out addiction recovery treatment at River’s Edge Ranch. He said he began using drugs at age 19.

Ellingson had several notable roles in films and television roles throughout his childhood and teenage years. In 2009, he played Jesse Fitzgerald in My Sister’s Keeper, acting alongside Cameron Diaz, Abigal Breslin and Sofia Vassilieva.

His other projects include CSI: Miami, Complete Savages, 24, Letters from Iwo Jima, Titus, Mad TV and State of Mind.
