Mon Laferte won her first career Latin Grammy for her collaboration “Amárrame” with veteran singer Juanes.
The pair performed the song together at the 18th annual Latin Grammys on Nov. 16. The Chilean artist won the award for Best Alternative Song. “Hello, it’s my first Latin GRAMMY. The first time. It’s fair to cry, it’s the first time, yes!” she said in her acceptance speech. “Thank you very much: Manú Jalil, Lalo Del Aguila and Allan — we made this record together. To all of the work team, the record company. To Juanes, for being so generous and for singing with me. I am very nervous. I don’t know what else to say. Thank you very much and I am very happy, [fellow] colleagues. I feel honored that you have voted for my song. Thank you.”
For their performance, the tatted up singer wore a gorgeous play on a flamenco dress – it was teal and form-fitting, but with a ruffled mermaid bottom trim. The singer wore white, teal, and red flowers in her hair to top it off.
Juanes, for his part, took home two awards – for best pop album and for best engineering. He shared a photo of himself holding his Grammys, as well as a photo from his first Latin Grammys 17 years ago, at which he won three statuettes.
