Missy Elliott is rumored to be one of the surprise guests joining Katy Perry during the Super Bowl halftime show.

Missy Elliott A Surprise Guest At Katy Perry’s Halftime Show?

Perry teased her upcoming performance during a press conference on Thursday, promising reporters a female driven show. “I wanted to bring someone back. A throwback of sorts that definitely needed some more shine. All I can say is it will be a real female fun night. It’s a bit old school. When this person enters the stage and you hear the first ring of the chord, I think jaws will drop and faces will melt,” Perry said.

It appears that the performer in question could be Elliott. An anonymous source confirmed Elliott would be performing alongside Perry at the Super Bowl halftime show, but the news has not been confirmed. Elliott has kept a low profile in recent years, only appearing as a guest on occasional songs here and there, including the remix of Perry’s hit “Last Friday Night (TGIF)” in 2011.

Elliott’s appearance at the show has not been confirmed, but Perry did confirm the presence of another exciting guest: rocker Lenny Kravitz. “My first special guest is going to be an incredible rock & roll icon, a guitar god,” Perry said of Kravitz.

The Super Bowl XLIX airs live Sunday, Feb. 1, on NBC at 6:30 p.m. ET/ 3:30 p.m. PT.
