Mimi Faust, who rose to fame on VH1’s Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta, achieved even more notoriety after the release of her sex tape with former boyfriend Nikko Smith.

Mimi Faust On Her Sex Tape

When Faust recorded the sex tape with Smith, they were on vacation in the Bahamas, and she had every intention of keeping the tape private. After arriving back home in Atlanta, the tape was missing and Faust was receiving a phone call from Vivid Entertainment’s Steve Hirsch.

“I get a call from Steve Hirsch saying, ‘I have a copy of your tape and I would like to sit down and talk with you about this.’ [Laughs] I’m like what?!,” Faust told uInterview exclusively. “So, Steve flew us to Los Angeles and he said, ‘Look I’ve got a copy of this. I don’t know who else might have a copy.'”

Hirsch went on to tell Faust that there were only two ways she could play this – both would result in the tape getting out, but only one would see her make any money off of it.

“Because you’re on television this tape is gonna go viral real fast, really quickly,” Faust told uInterview, paraphrasing Hirsch. “So you can either let it be out there on every blog, on every Internet for free, or, you know, you can do business with us and it can be out there and you can at least get paid for it.”

Faust ended up deciding to add some more money to her bank account and drop Smith, who, unbeknownst to her, also had a wife. These days, she has no relationship with Smith and can acknowledge that people were right to warn her about him.

“There is [no relationship]. None. No. Nothing. Like you’re blocked on my phone and everything,” laughed Faust, adding of her friends, “They were right. They were right. I mean, I found out he was married, and so on and so forth. I was with him for two years, and you fail to tell me that you married?! Nice guy.”

With her newfound celebrity status, Faust says the “sky is the limit” regarding her career. “Love and Hip Hop was like a trampoline for me to just do other things. It’s open so many doors for me. I’m really grateful and thankful,” she explained. “I just want to do so much. I have a children’s clothing line that I’m coming out with. I have a few books that are on the table that I’m doing, a home accessory line. ”

While Faust plans on parlaying her Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta fame to explore other avenues, she is also returning for the fourth season of the reality TV series.

Q: How did your sex tape get recorded and released? -

Well, I recorded it with the guy that I was dating at the time, not Stevie, but Niko. And we recorded it just for our own personal use; it wasn’t supposed to be out to the world or anything like that. We went on vacation [to the Bahamas], and he checked two bags and when we got back – we had a stop in Miami – we get back to Atlanta [and] it gets back itself, the bag. He didn’t tell me initially because he thought he could retrieve the tape that was in the bag. Which, of course, did not happen. Next thing I know, I get a call from Steve Hirsch saying, “I have a copy of your tape and I would like to sit down and talk with you about this.” (Laughs) I’m like what?! So, Steve flew us to Los Angeles and he said, “Look I’ve got a copy of this. I don’t know who else might have a copy.” And he was real clear. He said you know, “If you were just, you know, your Average Joe, I wouldn’t, you know, recommend you do this, but because you’re on television this tape is gonna go viral real fast, really quickly. So you can either let it be out there on every blog, on every Internet for free, or, you know, you can do business with us and it can be out there and you can at least get paid for it.”

Q: What is your relationship with Niko now? -

There is none. None. No. Nothing. Like you’re blocked on my phone and everything. [Laughs] Yea!

Q: How do you feel about the people who warned you about Niko? -

They were right. They were right. I mean, I found out he was married, and so on and so forth. I was with him for two years, and you fail to tell me that you married?! Nice guy.

Q: What are your career plans now? -

Oh my god! Sky is the limit! I mean Love and Hip Hop was like a trampoline for me to just do other things. It’s open so many doors for me. I’m really grateful and thankful. I just want to do so much. I have a children’s clothing line that I’m coming out with. I have a few books that are on the table that I’m doing, a home accessory line. So I’m doing a lot of stuff. So stay tuned.

Q: Will there be another season of the show? -

Yes. I’m currently filming season 4, Love and Hip Hop Atlanta.
